Taste of the West Gold Award 2018

Gold award

We are really pleased to announce that Nelly May’s Parlour has received Gold in Taste of the West Hospitality Awards Cafe/Tearoom Category for 2017/2018.

Taste of the West are an independent organistaion who champion high quality, local food throughout the South West region including; Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire.

Each year, awards are given to businesses working within the food or catering industry who achieve high standards.

While the emphasis is on a high standard of local food, they also take into account the business premises, customer service and marketing.

To achieve Gold has taken several years of developing the business to attain their high standards and we are delighted to have reached them this season.

Nelly May window display

Beatrix Potter

In keeping with the Beatrix Potter theme at this year’s Ilfracombe festival, we have decorated our window with some well known characters. We like to keep our fresh and regularly change it to suit the season or local events and as there is always lots going on in Ilfracombe it gets changed quite a lot.

Let us know if you have a favourire window display or have any suggestions for future ones.

Organic Sourdough Toastie

Organic Toastie

Baking our own Artisan Sourdough bread is something we have done for some time here at Nelly May’s but we are now looking for new and creative ways to use the bread. Our Organic Sourdough Toastie has been really popular but we are thinking our new Sourdough Pizza slices might just beat them to the top.

Ginger and Parsnip cake

Ginger and Parsnip cake

If you can make a cake using carrots, why not parsnips? This is our Ginger and Parsnip cake. Deliciously soft and tasty with a unique flavour that went down so well with our customers that we will be baking more in future.
